That morning at the workshop in Sawojajar, Malang City, Hariyanto (50) was seen wearing sunglasses to block sparks from a grinding wheel that came in contact with hard metal. he is a disabled person who works as a welder and turns parts into high-value crafts.He said that the habit of making works of art from waste vehicle parts had been carried out since 1989. At that time it was only a hobby because his main job was a fence welder.

"Actually, when I made crafts from spare parts, I was in grade 3 of junior high school around 1989. At that time I was only focused on the fence welding workshop, then this craft was just a hobby," he said, September 25, 2022 at his residence"

Hariyanto had a work accident at the age of 35 in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra which caused him to lose one of his legs. At that time, Hariyanto's enthusiasm for life had disappeared. However, he still tries to get up even though mired in the abyss of life. when visiting the house of one of his friends, at that time Hariyanto (50) saw a lot of metal scattered around the used motorcycle that was no longer used. His creative mind is motivated to process it into commercially valuable works and tries to start a hobby he has been involved in since junior high school.

"At that time work was quiet because my leg was amputated, after visiting there I thought about making art, and didn't want to just give up," he said.

The work of this half-century man, always begins with an idea that is defined in square-shaped hard metal. various works of art that have been produced by his hands such as miniature means of transportation such as trains, airplanes, and motorbikes.Haryanto doesn't wait for orders from customers, he usually creates works that are displayed at his residence first. Haryanto has never set a price for his art. He said the dowry value would be determined by the consumer because according to him works of art could not be valued in rupiah.

"Let other people judge what is important is the price, be sincere because art means a lot," he concluded.
